My iPhone does appear in iTunes when it is sitting on the dock. I am desperate to solve this problem, and I would appreciate any help anyone can provide. I am still experiencing the same error message when I try and synch the iPhone.
I have now completed the archive and install. My final Apple Support person recommended an archive and install. In the end they could not solve the problem. Once again I spent 3 hours on the phone with Apple Support and went through two levels of iPhone support. This is in spite of the fact that my account is an administrator account. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation!". However, although iTunes ran fine on my Mac Pro and my music library appeared just as it should, I got the following error message when I tried to synch iTunes with my iPhone: The iPhone "My Name" cannot be synched. I found that some of my applications had to be reinstalled and I did so. They told me to shut down and then reboot the Mac Pro. Then with "one minute remaining" the process hung and went unchanged for 1.5 hr. The transfer appeared fine for over 3.5 hours with the blue progress bar going all the way to the right. I used Setup Assistant when I booted up my Mac Pro for the first time to transfer my data, applications, etc. Yesterday I purchased an 8-core iMac with Leopard installed. I have never had the slightest problems with synching my iPhone on my iMac under first Tiger and now Leopard. I have been using the iPhone with a white iMac purchased in March 2007. It has performed flawlessly for me and continues to do so. I have had my iPhone since the first day they went on sale in June 2007.
